Not only did she receive the Tony Award, but her performance was also well-received by critics. The following year, she was cast as the character Dr. Callie Torres in ABC's Grey's Anatomy. This led to her gaining wider fame. As a professional singer and producer, she's produced one single and an extended work. In her role as an activist, she is a tireless advocate to promote LGBT equality.
